Why this timer exists
5 Minutes Timer is built for people who need a countdown immediately. The main timer, duration pages, classroom mode, and embed tool all run without registration.
How timing works
The countdown stores a fixed end time. Each screen update compares the current time with that endpoint, which corrects the drift that can happen when a browser slows background tabs. If the browser or device closes the page completely, operating-system rules can still prevent an alarm from playing.
Product principles
- The timer should be usable before any explanatory content.
- Controls should have clear labels and keyboard access.
- Claims should describe behavior we can test.
- Timer pages should help visitors choose a useful duration, not exist only to repeat keywords.
